This the Volcan de Izalco. I was born at the foothills of this beautiful volcano. At night, we could see the most splendid fireworks display. Because of its altitude and its proximity to the sea it became known to sailors as El Faro del PacĂico, The Lighthouse of the Pacific.

This volcano is characterized by its permanent activity, from its birth in 1770, almost 200 years after Christopher Columbus reached the new world, to the end of its eruptive period in 1966. It is currently dormant
